Reversed Engineered Object: Selection
Selecting objects to dismantle for this project was difficult, only as I didn't actually possess a lot of objects that could be dismantled 😂
Here are the three objects I chose to take apart and examine for the first part of this project.
First, we have a semi-standard inhaler used to treat asthma and other respiratory disorders.
The inside of this object was particularly interesting to me, as the structure of having an open hole that is tailored to allow for medicine delivery though not permitting the medicine canister to "fall through" seemed intriguing.
The next is a stick of lip balm.
This one seemed relatively simple to execute and also had some interesting structures like the centre piece to push up the stick of balm, and the rotating bottom.
Finally, I have a pen my mom bought from Singapore.
Sadly, this was on the cheaper side, so it's nothing fancy 😂 I won't lie and say that I like this design, even as cheap as the pen feels physically. The scaling texture is particularly pleasing, and the objects vary quite a bit texturally to allow for the structure and function of the pen.
Overall, I think I will be going forward with the pen with this project, as I think it is a good middle ground between simple and complex, and was also the suggestion provided to me by my professor.
